Massaging the Seriously Ill

I recently received some continuing education in oncology massage.

It reminded me that I’ve spent countless hours as a pastor visiting people in hospitals. I was also a chaplain for hospice and I sat with many people in their last days. Over the years, I observed that many people with health issues appreciated a smile and a gentle touch.

Nowadays, I use my massage skills for people who have serious health issues. Gentle touch to aid circulation can be reviving physically and emotionally. Additionally, a smile, an easy silence, or a listening ear can be profound.

Those things are important for everyone, of course, and I’m happy to offer it in my massage work.
